Outside the entrance of a shop in Kyoto. I guess this could be called "Fish In A Barrel" The Japanese aesthetic is so impressive. Just seeing something like this outside the entrance to a shop makes one want to pass the threshold to see what lies inside.

Ise Shrine -Ise
Ise Shrine is arguably the most important Shinto Shrine in Japan. In architectural terms it is certainly the most purely Japanese, showing no influence from the Asian mainland. Within the Shinto mantra of death and rebirth the shrine is torn down and rebuilt every twenty years. Ise's 62nd rebuilding will take place in 2013.

The Hida Folk Village is basically an open air museum that features over thirty typical traditional farmhouses and other buildings from the Hida region near the wonderful old city of Takyama.

The main attractions are a number of gassho-zukuri houses. These farmhouses with their massive steeply pitched thatched roofs bring to ming praying hands. These structures were moved here from the nearby Shirakawa-go region.
