Canal Near Xian, China
This was one of those shots that just turns out to be rather unforgettable. The image relies on atmosphere and perspective to set a mood and compostionally it has a nice tension.

Cook - Guanchou, China
These were the kinds of scenes that made China so magical. The back side of a typical restaurant with the cook hard at work.

Fisherman - Guilin, China
The area around Guilin may be the most beautiful in China. This shot was taken from a hill giving me a unique angle on the fisherman. The photograph references the "void" that is so important in much of historical Chinese painting.

Sunset - Guilin, China
The karst formations along the Li truly are "otherworld". A cliche, but beautiful nonetheless, are the Li River sunsets.

Card Players - Guanchou
This is a favorite from China. From the black velvet paintings to the very concentrated faces of the players, this image really works for me.

Boy and His Mother - Forbidden City - Bejing
A proud mother was very pleased to have this picture taken by an American tourist. Her son much less enthusiastic.
