Set Flush into 1/4" green slate this piece is designed to hang on a wall. The rings are 1" in Diameter.

Built on commission. One of my first pieces referencing Biedermier design. cherry, lacewood, curly maple, aspen, turned and laquered poplar, enamel, steel, brass. 4 ft. long
-
This detail focuses on the "bolster" of the chest of drawers. Used frequently in Biedermier couch and setee design the tubular bolster was a very popular element. It's use in a chest of drawers recontextualizes it and perhaps adds a bit of humor.
-
The drawer pulls are 1/8" thick steel with cased brass overlay. The shape references the very popular Biedermier chairback.
-
Inspired by the haunting music by Eleni Karaindrou for a modern version of Euripyde's play, The Trojan Women. 7" high
-
Peering through the glass top one can see the 18K and 22K yellow gold ring with almandine garnet. Referencing the sun and life it expresses hope in the face of despair.
-
A series of three ring and ring containers emerged from my interest in Japanese ukiyo-e or "pictures of the floating world". I used three images from the 19th century. The rings appear where family crests would have appeared in the original prints. 18K gold and green garnet.
-
A copy of the original print was cut along its keyline giving a jigsaw puzzle which was then transferred to brass and cut out. Each piece has about twenty individual pieces which were airbrushed, assembled on a backing and finished. Ring is 18K gold with blue sapphire
-
The metal pieces were caulked with black latex caulk and when cleaned up the caulk became the new keyline. Where necessary I used colored pencil to add linear detail and the piece was sprayed with a finish sealer. Ring is 18K gold and black enamel.
-
This piece was inspired by traditional timber framed architecture. The cast glass element features a "keyhole" recess. cypress, bleached and pickled mahogany, cast glass. 6 ft. long
-
Detail of the cast glass and "keyhole' recess. The glass was cast by Steve Hirt Studio in Seattle, Washington.

A "quick" piece hammered up and fabricated from brass with a cast iron patina and 24K gold leaf. 7" long
-
Another sculptural/jewelry piece. The vessel is raised and fabricated brass with a cast iron patina. The ornamental top lifts out and is a pendant. See next image 7"x"5x5"
-
The pendant is fine silver, enamel, 18K gold bi-metal, hand made fine silver chain, tourmaline and rhodolite garnet.
-
A rare piece (for me) of pure sculpture. Referencing the back element of a Biedermier Chair I have taken that flatness and made it very organic and voluputous. The "furniture" element is then referenced in the pedestal with the use of fine veneer and inlay. poplar and graphite with clear coat - 6 ft high
