This clock was inspired by the work of American sculptor, Donald Judd. It is the largest of the clocks at 18" wide and 28" high. The materials are mahogany, fiddleback maple and quilted maple veneer.

One of my more whimsical clocks, Blender Bieder is referencing both organic and mechanical sources. The materials are painted poplar, leopard wood, and Paela wood. It is 21" high

Another attempt on the lighter side. The iconic Biedermeier chairback becomes the arms and legs in Buff Bieder. He is then topped with a copper-leafed crown. paint on poplar and soft maple, painted brass, computer generated clock-face, copper leaf - 30"H x 19"W x 8"D

Another fun one, although a little more formal. The "Bagel" was turned on a lathe in two parts and then glued together. - Baltic birch veneered with Tasmanian Myrtle fiddleback, beech veneer on maple substrate, turned soft maple, black lacquer on maple, painted surfaces, 21" X 21" X 7"

The first in a series of Bieder clocks paying homage to the wacky 50's. This one is referencing George Nelson's 1950's iconic Ball Clock which is still in production by Vitra Corporation in Germany. Laminated Baltic birch and masonite, bleached mahogany, carved poplar, steel and laminates. 20"L x 9"W x 27"H

The second in a series of Bieder clocks paying homage to the art and design of the 50's. While not specifically an artist who rose to maturity in the 1950's, Alexander Calder's mobiles nevertheless conjure up distinct forms that we associate with 50's design. This piece pays tribute to the great architect/designer and co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte -Josef Hoffmann. The very formal design and use of the grid is vintage Hoffmann from about 1899 to 1907. 9" x 6.25" x 19" - leopard wood and lacquered maple.

I have great admiration for Joan Miro since he moved so effortlessly between the two dimensional and three dimensional worlds. This piece combines several Miro inspired elements and a Biedermeier three legged pedestal base.

The "spider" is metal, the balancing creature is painted brass wire, the hand is carved and painted basswood and the creature being held in the hand is basswood and metal

This piece references Man Ray’s iconic Le Cadeau from 1921- a clothes iron with tacks glued on the bottom. My iron is situated atop a classic Biedermeier style three column table.

The newest addition to the Bieder clock series is Magritte Bieder. This piece draws its inspiration from René Magritte's iconic surrealist painting, "Time Transfixed".
